Project: Individual Bungalow Twin Residence
Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Architect: M/s Amla Seth & Anand Bhagat
Product: Landmark TL
Shade: Aged Bark
Two individual bungalows were to be designed in Kolhapur for which Architect M/s Amla Seth & Anand Bgahat, Pune were engaged to provide an aesthetic appeal. Clients, two brothers, wanted to have their houses of similar layout and exterior appearance.
To make this project of thirty thousand sq ft area a unique one, architects decided to have little change in roofs to differentiate the houses. Architects adopted an ambitious design using complex Domes shapes, curves and wide roof profiles with extremely steep slopes.
Clients made choice to go with Certain Teed Landmark TL of Aged Bark shade. Going with Certainteed Landmark TL was the best choice made by clients in consultation with architects as Landmark TL has three laminated layers of the industry’s most durable materials, providing a dramatically thick roofing product styled with the classic appeal of wood shake. Landmark TL is the triple performance shake that has the hand-split look of cedar and the durable dimension of tri-laminate technology. Random tab design and unique natural shadows gives luxurious dimensional character to the shingles.
Architects used many different substrates including plywood, Fiber board and concrete to provide desired contour to the roof. Because of its Flexible quality Certain Teed Shingles were the best choice for the designed roof to conveniently install on arch, extreme curve shape and steep slopes. Light weight and waterproofing was added advantage for clients without extra expenses.
The building on completion became a ‘sure stopper’ because of its design, beauty of structure and the quality of workmanship reflected.
