Coorg is located on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. The misty hills,lush green teak wood and sandalwood forests and acres of tea and coffee plantations gives a majestic panoramic view to Coorg. Coorg is also known as ‘the Scotland of India’ with scattered villages and hamlets. Coorg is ideal for outdoor activities like trekking, angling and rafting.
Coorg being an ideal destination for Indian and foreign tourist, a hospitality project of international grade was conceived. Architect M/s Mahesh & Iyer was engaged to design & create Taamara Resorts to provide wold class comfort to tourist.
Coorg has tropical monsoon climate and faces heavy rainfall that leaves the weather humid, wet & cool. The winter time is chilly. Architect selected Certain Teed Firehalt shingles for application covering 1.3 Lakh area. Selection of shingles provide aesthetic appeal as well as waterproofing and recurring expenditure free maintenance. Shingles are composed of a fiber glass mat base. Ceramic-coated mineral granules are tightly embedded in carefully refined, water-resistant asphalt. Two pieces of shingle are firmly laminated together in special tough asphaltic cement. Shingles have self sealing adhesive strips. The Fiber glass insulation helps make building more thermally efficient by better retaining the desired temperature of enclosed spaces, whether they are heated or cooled. Because of light weight and flexible material quality of shingles it made possible for the architect to give unique tall and steep slope to the roof to over come the heavy rainfall problems. Oak wood shade chosen by the client to give eco-friendly look with the lush teak wood, sandalwood and rosewood forests and acres of tea and coffee plantation in the misty hills backyard.
The resort has been completed in year 2009 and become a most liked destination of tourist due to its aesthetic looks and world class amenities provided by the resort to experience the serenity and vitality of being alive through textures, temperatures, coffee aromas, stunning nature sights and birds sounds along with the rejuvenating spa experience.
